November 2010 RESULTS Domestic Conference Call: Push the Lame Duck Congress to Support EITC, CTC

We started the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC) improvements for low-income working families. She urged RESULTS volunteers to share local or state data from Citizens for Tax Justice, stories, and by illustrating the impact these changes can have on a minimum wage family with two children working full-time: this family currently receives a Child Tax Credit of about $1,750 but will see their CTC drop to $250, a $1,500 loss, a significant blow to their already limited budget.

TAKE ACTION: Join dozens of RESULTS activists who have already sent the Lame Duck Congress handwritten letters urging them to make these vital tax credits for low-income working families a priority. Use the talking points in our November Action sheet and send off letters ASAP. You can find fax numbers for members of Congress on our Elected Officials page of the RESULTS website. Also, to help you brush up on the EITC and CTC after focusing on child nutrition the last few weeks, we have created a new EITC and CTC Fact Sheet to reorient yourself with these tax credits and why the 2009 improvements are so important. We also have an updated Outreach Action Sheet that you can give/send to other urging them to take action too.
