2011 Fundraising Begins in Earnest

In January we asked groups to include fundraising events in your 2011 planning sessions, and you did not disappoint! We’ve seen groups stepping up to do their very first events, groups coming out of a long period of no events, and an overall sense of fun and creativity running through our grassroots. It’s early in the year and we already have 22 events on our calendar with a few more tentative ones in the wings. By comparson, in all of 2010, we had 16 events total.

We’ve even had an early event completed already by Miami partners who held a fundraiser birthday party for long-time RESULTS partner Gail Newmann! Looking ahead, here are a few of the awesome events coming up:

  • Recipes for Success: Albuquerque is collecting recipes from members of Congress and other RESULTS celebrities to present in a cookbook called “Recipes for Success.” Attendees will be treated to some of these dishes and hear about our “recipes” for the end of poverty.
  • Empty Bowls: Cleveland is organizing a simple soup lunch with donated pottery bowls.Their audience will purchase bowls to keep, have them filled with delicious soup and hear inspiring stories from local partners.
  • House Concert with Justin Roth: Chicago is teaming up with a nationally touring singer/guitarist for a private house concert.
  • Meal Packaging: NC Triangle will host their first event, which will highlight our global health work around World TB Day.Partnering with the organization STOP Hunger Now, they’ll package meals for impoverished people, introduce a new audience to advocacy, and ask for donation support. Plus, a member of Congress has accepted their invitation to attend. Bravo!

Keep the ideas coming!  We love the outpouring of energy and can’t wait to see what you come up with next. Have an idea but wondering how to pull it off?  Not sure where to start? Please contact your development team at [email protected] and we’ll help you.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm, dedication and planning. We appreciate it so much!
