Global Laser Talk February 2010
Speaking to Members of Congress About Appropriation
Foreign assistance is a critical part of our foreign policy, so we must invest foreign aid dollars wisely.
For example, we know that the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is an effective tool for combating diseases of poverty. And our bilateral U.S. investment in TB is key to halting the spread of deadly multidrug resistant tuberculosis.
In addition, tools like microfinance harness the market to help people lift themselves out of poverty. And access to basic education positively affects nearly every aspect of global poverty.
Will you speak to the chair and ranking members of the Foreign Operations Subcommittee of Appropriations about our investments in these effective poverty solutions? I can provide you with specific dollar amounts we would like to see for each of these key foreign aid investments in 2011.
Please see the February Action Sheet for more infomation on how to submit our appropriations requests.
